The reading will be followed by a live Q&A or roundtable discussion with Alina Sarnatska.
We also have very special auction lots: flags and photos signed by Kyrylo Budanov — one of the most powerful symbols of Ukrainian resistance and bravery.
Sarnatska's plays are shaped by war, service, motherhood, memory, and survival. They follow a woman veteran trying to make sense of war and preserve her sense of self in a world where everything seems broken — an intimate, searching work about trauma, memory, and the struggle to hold on to one's humanity. Her writing draws directly on her experience serving as a frontline medic in Bakhmut. Her work explores the realities of war, the role of women in the military, and the painful disconnect between soldiers and civilians.
Balance and Military Mom was created as part of Theatre of Veterans, a joint initiative of TRO Media and the Playwrights' Theatre.
All proceeds go directly toward medical supplies for Ukrainian field medics, purchased and delivered by Leleka Foundation.
Come, bring your friends, and stand with Ukraine.
